Kansas Ag News Headlines Chambliss-Roberts Urge Balanced Review at USDA-DOJ Agriculture Workshops Kansas Ag Connection - 03/12/2010 U.S. Senators Saxby Chambliss of Georgia and Pat Roberts of Kansas Thursday sent letters to Secretary Tom Vilsack and Attorney General Eric Holder expressing their interest in the series of upcoming workshops hosted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and Department of Justice on competition issues in the agriculture. The first workshop was held in Ankeny, Iowa, on Thursday. In particular, Sens. Chambliss and Roberts urged the Administration to ensure the events are balanced and reflective of the diverse agriculture industry. The Senators further expressed concern that any review include careful consideration of any unintended consequences of government intervention in the market and that the workshops themselves not be used as a venue for public scrutiny of agricultural businesses that are already subject to existing antitrust laws.
