Technology Job Fair in Lenexa
Kansas Ag Connection - 03/20/2018

Upon learning of Sprint's announcement to lay off 120 of its primarily technical employees, the Kansas Department of Commerce, KANSASWORKS and Workforce Partnership immediately made plans to conduct a technology-focused job fair. The aim of this job fair is to provide displaced Sprint employees, and anyone seeking a technology-focused position, an opportunity to connect with hiring employers.

The KANSASWORKS Technology Job Fair will provide employers and job seekers with the unique opportunity to connect face-to-face.

"With so many highly skilled workers now facing a sudden job search, we want to be proactive in helping them find rewarding positions right here in Kansas," said Governor Jeff Colyer, M.D. "At the same time, we know that many of our employers are struggling to find the skilled tech workers they need to fill open positions. We are excited to kick off this job fair to help connect employers with the talent they need to succeed."

"There are currently over 6,000 technology-related jobs in Kansas, and 3,690 of those are within a 25-mile radius of Overland Park," said Robert North, interim secretary for the Kansas Department of Commerce. "We know there are an abundance of opportunities in Kansas for technology professionals, and this job fair will provide a great opportunity to match Kansas employers with the skilled and valuable employees they need to fill their crucial positions."

The job fair will take place on April 3 at the Johnson County Workforce Center, 8535 Bluejacket St., Lenexa. The job fair will be open to all job seekers from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Interested employers may contact Lars Leininger, Director of Business Services with Workforce Partnership, at 913-553-7709 or larsl@workforcepartnership.com. They may also register online at www.eventbrite.com/e/technology-career-fair-tickets-44143076129. There is enough space for 30 employers to participate in this job fair.
