Beef Cattle and Forage Field Day in SE Kansas May 2

K-State Research and Extension will host its annual Beef Cattle and Forage Crops Field Day on May 2 at 25092 Ness Road in Parsons.

The event starts at 8:30 a.m. with registration, followed by the program at 9 a.m. Coffee and donuts will be available in the morning and lunch will be served, compliments of numerous sponsors, following the morning presentations. Sponsors will have displays available throughout the field day.

Program topics and speakers include

- Beef Cattle Market Outlook Synthesis -- Glynn Tonsor, K-State agricultural economist;

- Modern Approaches to Fescue Pasture Management for Beef Cattle -- Eric Bailey, extension beef specialist, University of Missouri;

- Supplementation of Cows Grazing Cool-Season Forages -- Jaymelynn Farney, K-State southeast area beef specialist;

- Epidemic of Weak and Stillborn Calves in the Midwest During Spring of 2019 -- Gregg Hanzlicek, K-State Veterinary Diagnostic Lab; and

- What Worked and What Didn't in 40 Years of Beef Cattle Research -- Lyle Lomas, animal scientist, K-State Southeast Agricultural Research Center.
