Wichita Gas Station Featuring Higher Ethanol Blends, Discounts
Kansas Ag Connection - 09/30/2016

The Jump Start station at 3805 W. 21st St. N in Wichita is holding a grand opening to celebrate the new higher ethanol blends available at their pumps Sept. 30. Speakers will provide remarks at 11:30 a.m., followed by a ribbon cutting. Kansas Corn will participate in the event.

Jump Start received the first USDA grant in Kansas to install ethanol blender pumps. Several Kansas groups that support ethanol pledged substantial matching funds for the USDA grant program through the Kansas Better Blends Initiative, providing $2.3 million in grant resources to Kansas fuel retailers who add ethanol blender pumps.

Ninety seven percent of gasoline today has 10% ethanol in it, which means almost all drivers are already using ethanol. E15 (15% ethanol) is approved for all vehicles 2001 and newer. E20, E30 and E85 are approved for flex fuel vehicles.

The ethanol blends provide drivers with a choice at the pump. Ethanol blends cost less and create fewer toxic emissions from your tailpipe.

The Kansas Better Blends Initiative is a partnership of the Kansas Department of Agriculture, Kansas Corn Commission, Renew Kansas, Kansas Grain Sorghum Commission, United Sorghum Checkoff Program, and ICM, Inc. These organizations have committed matching funds and in-kind services to make this program a success with the help of a technical advisory committee. The USDA Grant is administered by the Kansas Department of Agriculture.
